The benefits of Goji berries are very well known to many and more and more people are becoming aware of the health benefits of Goji berries. It is available to one and all in fresh, dried or in juice form. Let us try to have a look at some of the Goji berry recipes which could let you enjoy this delicious as well as highly beneficial fruit.

Most of the Goji berry recipes dont need any cooking and are very simple. So, you can have Goji trail mix which involves mixing Goji berries with other dry fruits and grains. It is a wonderful snack. The same goes with salads also. As you use dried cranberries or raisins in your salads you can use Goji berries. Who says, you can’t add Goji berries in your favorite scoop of ice cream.

Well, there certainly are Goji berry recipes which are relatively more complex. So, recipes like blueberry, Goji berry compote and peach pie etc do need some effort on your part but is relatively simpler. You need to treat Goji berries as you use raisins and other dry fruits. You can add Goji berries to your chicken or duck marinade or better still add some Goji juice. And if you have been using raisins in your rice dishes; try switching over to Goji berries.

What’s more you can freeze Goji fruit or juice to prepare delicious Goji sorbet. Kids would love Goji-cicles. Well, it is so simple. Just pour the Goji juice in an ice cube tray and stick in toothpicks. Well, your popsicles are prepared. What about chewy Goji bars? Well, just add Goji berries to the mixture of your fruit and nut bars. The best thing about Goji berries is that it is a very versatile product. You can use it in any way you want and you can prepare your own Goji berry recipes that suits your tastes.

GOJI DRINKS

It is very simple to prepare. Start with adding about one handful of Goji berries to a big glass of water (hot or cold juice) or even herb tea. Now leave the mixture to hydrate for a while until they look plump and juicy. If you like the taste, prepare jugs full of this wonderful drink and go on drinking all through the day. It is one of the healthiest drinks that you would ever drink and chew with Vitamin C about five hundred times more than oranges.

GOJI FRUIT SMOOTHIE

If you want phytonutrient energy running your body, go for this recipe. Just mix equal quantities of Goji berries, blueberries, raspberries, apples, blackberries and cherries. Let the mixture churn in the blenders for a few seconds. You can add a cup of water, or orange juice or rice milk to smooth blending. Serve it with the toppings of cocoa powder and chopped pine nuts.

GOJI TRAIL MIX

This very popular recipe is one which could be played up on every time you prepare it. Thus, you can go for Goji berries with sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, flax seeds, pecans, pieces of walnuts, pine nuts, slices of apples, dried blueberries, peaches, cherries, pineapple and coconut shreds. You can make any innovations as you decide.

GOJI BERRIES AND CREAM OF BUCKWHEAT

Buckwheat has always been considered the best by people who are allergic to wheat and gluten. It is also seen that if you are feeling physically and emotionally challenged, getting rid of wheat and gluten foods from your diet can have good overall impact on your life. The main constituents of buckwheat include proteins in rich quantities and vitamin B. It is also very rich in potassium, phosphorus, calcium and iron. Despite it’s seemingly resemblance to other grains, it is actually a fruit biologically and that is why it could be consumed by people who are allergic to wheat. Now, about the Goji berry recipe!

Let us first talk about serving two people. Boil about 2 1/2 cups of water and then stir about 1/2 cup of cream of buckwheat slowly. Boil the mixture. Now, add a Goji berries as per your wish. Adding salt is also optional. Now, reduce the heat and let the mixture simmer for about ten minutes with continued stirring.

GOJI JUICE BREAD RECIPE

The ingredients that you would need are:

2 1/2 cups of flour

1 cup of sugar

1 table spoon of baking powder

1 table spoon of salt

Our Goji Berries come from a pristine, certified organic region in the Ningxia province of China. Almost daily, we get emails or calls from customers asking us if we are selling “wolfberries” or “goji” berries. And each day we calmly explain to them that this distinction is really just a myth. Some claim that “Goji” can only refer to berries grown in Tibet and parts of Mongolia—that anything grown in China is excluded—but this is NONSENSE. The term “goji” was actually developed in CHINA by …
Help answer the question about goji berries
Where to buy good goji berries?
Anybody know of a good place to buy the good, sweet goji berries?
In the Valleys of Tibet and Mongolia there is a special berry the locals cherish so much they honor it in celebrations that last two weeks each year. Goji Berries contain more protein than whole wheat, more beta-carotene than carrots and 500 times more vitamin C by weight than oranges. It has been well documented that many people in these regions where Goji Berries grow live free of common diseases for well over a hundred years.

These Tibetan Goji Berries are grown Organically in fertile protected wild areas of Inner Mongolia, with vines that reach to over twenty feet. These special berries are grown in one of the most pristine environments in the world, free from any pesticides or industrial pollutants.

How to grow Goji berries

Here is a summary of suggestions and ideas that will help you grow your own Goji berries:

Cultivation and Care Seeds should be sown in spring, 0.5 to 1 cm under the surface, preferably covered with medium sand. Once the seedlings emerge (7 days) and begin to crowd each other they can be planted out. If signs of wilting occur followed by seedling death, treat with a fungicide such as Fongarid and move to a more sunny location.

These berries need sun and adequate water. Shrub up to 3 meters with berries up to 2 cm long. Likes sandy soil, drought tolerant once established. Plant in full sun for best berry production. Dislikes water logging. Plants begin fruiting once 2 years old and will produce heavy crops in the 4th to 5th year.

Goji Berry Plants are easy to grow once they are established. They will grow in almost any type of soil, light sandy, Medium-loamy, and heavy-clay, but they tend to flower and fruit better in a well-drained soil of moderate quality.

Goji Berry plants have an extensive root system and are very drought tolerant once established. Goji Berry plants prefer full sun to partial shade, but plant them in full sun for the best Goji Berry production.

Young Goji Berry Plant

Goji Berry plants can survive winters down to -15 degrees Fahrenheit and hot summers above 100 degrees. The Goji Berry grows as a thick bush reaching 8-10 feet tall with vines that can get 12 feet long. Heavy pruning of the Goji Berry plant will keep this bush looking nice and will also help it produce more delicious Goji Berries.

In early summer this beautiful plant is covered with small trumpet shaped flowers. Both purple flowers and white flowers are on the same Goji plant. Goji berry plants add color to any landscape with their delicate flowers. These rare edible plants are available for the first time in the United States from Timpanogos Nursery.

Goji Berry Flowers

In late summer these pretty little flowers are followed by glossy, bright red Goji Berries. The Goji plant continues to flower and produce Goji Berries right up until the first heavy frost. The fresh Goji berries are incredibly juicy and sweet.

Fresh Ripe Goji Berries

Goji Berry plants begin to fruit when they are 2 years old. Heavy yields can be expected from Goji plants that are 4 to 5 years old.

Grown as a House Plant?

The Goji Berry can be grown indoors if given enough light. Goji Berries can be grown under a strong, full spectrum, artificial light or they can be set by a window that gets direct sunlight for at least 8 hours every day. It is best to grow the Goji plants outside as they do much better, but we have grown them successfully indoors.

Potted Indoor Goji Berry Plant

If you choose to grow the Goji Berry as a houseplant, you will need to pollinate the flowers by hand. The above plant has been grown indoors, is one year old and has many green berries that are not visible in the photo.

Every Goji Berry plant order comes with complete growing instructions, tips on how to increase yields, fertilizing, pruning, harvesting, etc.

Goji juice is made from goji berries and there are a number of ways for preparing goji juice. There are two ways to make goji juice-simply goji juice and goji blended. You can make simply goji juice by using dried berries. For making simply goji juice, you are required to get an 8oz glass of water. Then you must add up around 10 to 20 goji berries in the glass. Then leave the berries inside the glass for about 1 to 2 minutes. After a couple of minutes, the water will naturally develop a taste like that of goji berries. This water will definitely make you feel like you have tasted the real goji berry. After drinking the water, you can either eat the soaked goji berries or can keep them aside for making paste.

Goji blended is also a popular form of goji berries in liquid form. It is very simple to make the goji blended. You must gather 30 to 40 goji berries for making goji blended. Other essential ingredients for making goji blended may include 3 cubes of ice, a blender, 1 small banana and 1/3 cup of orange juice. You must add up all these ingredients together and blend them all in the blender for around a minute. After that you will be ready with a smoother and tastier goji juice. You can serve it chilled with ice.

You can opt for goji juice jello for adding pep to the goji. The essential ingredients for making goji juice jello may include 1 Cup of Boiling Water, 1 cup chilled goji juice, 1 packet sugar free, instant strawberry flavor and Low-Calorie Jello Gelatin. For preparing goji juice jello, you are required to boil one cup water then add the jello mix in a bowl. You must add up the boiled water into that bowl having jello mix. Keep on stirring the ingredients in the bowl for around two minutes until the jello mix dissolves completely in the boiled water.

Once the mixture becomes uniform, you must add goji juice in the bowl and then stir it up thoroughly. You must pour goji juice in the individual size cups then refrigerate it for around 4 hours until the mixture becomes firm. Then, serve the chilled goji juice jello to your loved ones. goji juice can provide a number of benefits such as improved eye vision, improved blood circulation and enhanced energy level.
